About Bowling for Soup

The members of Bowling for Soup first connected at The Refuge, a coffee shop and music venue owned by the family of guitarist Chris Burney. ∙ The name Bowling for Soup is a reference to a routine from Steve Martin’s 1978 comedy album, A Wild and Crazy Guy. ∙ After their 1998 LP, Rock On Honorable Ones!!, unexpectedly sold 10,000 copies, the band was signed by Jive Records, home to such pop acts as Backstreet Boys, *NSYNC, and Britney Spears. ∙ Their single “Girl All the Bad Guys Want” reached the Top 10 in the UK and was also nominated for a Grammy Award. ∙ The band made a guest appearance in Crossroads, a 2002 film starring Britney Spears, Zoe Saldana, and Taryn Manning. ∙ Bowling for Soup cowrote and performed the theme song for animated TV series Phineas and Ferb.
