Flashbaxx Daniel Stenger Aschaffenburg DJ and producer Daniel Stenger aka Flashbaxx, born in 1981, lives music with heart and soul. Since 2003, his jazz'n funky downbeats have been featured internationally on countless compilations (including Sony Music, EMI, Ministry Of Sound) alongside greats such as Moby, Jazzanova, Blank & Jones or Bonobo and consistently find their way into the playlists of tastemaker DJs around the globe. It’s been a while since Flashbaxx released his critically acclaimed The Changing Tides EP in 2008 and the album Something To Believe in 2013. Daniel Stenger began working on new songs, but inspiration was fleeting. Daniel was not satisfied with his early drafts. So the producer from Aschaffenburg (Germany) decided to take a break from Flashbaxx and devote himself to other projects. Not that Daniel was resting ... rather, he was restless. He produced and recorded other bands and artists, composed music for commercials, frequently performed as DJ and started to produce podcasts. From time to time a Flashbaxx loop appeared on his sequencer, but he still was not able to complete the puzzle. But after a few years of all this activity and exposure to the music of others (in the clubs as well as the studios) Daniel’s inspiration returned and he was finally ready to push the Flashbaxx musical vision into 2022. The fog first lifted in 2018 when Daniel produced “Alright” in a single evening. It was the spark for the whole sound and concept of Take care my Friend: to limit himself to the instruments he used for the song "Alright" and not to follow the limitation of a sample or a loop. Now it was about composing music and playing all instruments by himself. Considering that this makes the record probably his most personal and musically most ambitious Flashbaxx release so far. In the next three years Daniel prodded Flashbaxx back to life, track by track. It was like awakening from long creative hibernation, and Daniel’s newfound creative joy is evident in Take Care My Friend. This jazz-funk thing has always been a challenge to Flashbaxx. Especially, as someone who has had no real musical training except for a few guitar lessons when he was ten years old. In Stengers opinion, his music is about style, attitude and taste. But he doesn't want to be pinned down on that. His songs develop almost naturally from his musical preferences. The varieties of jazz and funk are probably just his best way to express. Sometimes it can be a real struggle to find the right chord, sound and mood. And if you're also very picky, detail-oriented and strict as Stenger it doesn't make things any easier. But the Aschaffenburg resident feels good in his role as a perfectionist. This is just him. And that's his music.
