Ni-Ni (sometimes spelt "Ni Ni" or "NiNi") was a bubblegum eurodance act from Denmark. The project was headlined by singer and model Nynne Qvortrup, and created by producer and songwriter Longhorn (Michael Skouboe).

Ni-Ni is best known for her songs "1,2,3,4,007", "Be Together", and "Dabbi Doo" which appeared on her 2001 album release "Mermaid". Ni-Ni is produced by bubblegum dance pioneer Longhorn, who is best known for his work with Hit'n'Hide, Miss Papaya and Bambee. All Ni-Ni songs were recorded and produced at Hipcat Studio (1992 - 2012), which was located in Kolding, Denmark, and operated by Longhorn.

2001 Debut

In 2001 Ni-Ni released her debut album "Mermaid" in Scandinavia and Japan. Recorded at Hipcat Studios, Denmark, and distributed by House of Scandinavia, "Mermaid" had limited success on the charts, and no singles were released from the album. This was likely due to bad timing, as "Mermaid" was released in 2001, as bubblegum dance popularity was dwindling.

The song "Be Together", composed by Tetsuya Komuro and written by Mitsuko Komuro, appears as a bonus track on the Japanese release of Mermaid. There is also rumoured to be a "Korean Edition" of "Mermaid" which features the bonus song "Dam Do Dam Dam Dam", though we have yet to find any evidence of this release.

Many of Ni-Ni's songs have appeared on Dance games such as Dance Dance Revolution ("1,2,3,4,007", and "Be Together") and Dancemania ("Dabbi Doo", "1,2,3,4,007"). She is also well-known by Anime fans, due to many of her music being used in fan-made anime videos.

Ni-Ni has gained a cult following in the bubblegum dance scene, and has grown in popularity many years after her album was released. Today her albm "Mermaid" is highly sought after by collectors, and is considered to be one of the best examples of bubblegum eurodance, alongside artists like Bambee, Miss Papaya, Aqua and Crispy.

Biography

Nynne Qvortrup was born in Denmark on December 5th 1974. Before she became a singer she had a career in modeling and was a pre-school teacher. She also works as an airline stewardess for Scandinavian Airlines. In 2003 she had a son named William.

Unreleased music

A second album for Ni-Ni was planned, but because of bad timing (the 9/11 disaster in New York likely had an impact on future releases, as was the case of the Cartoons band who abandoned their tour) the songs were never released, with the exception of "Dam Do Dam Dam Dam" which was apparently included on the Korean edtition of Mermaid.

According to Longhorn, the album's working title was "Bubbling", named after the leading track with the same name. The songs were all produced by Longhorn, and included the titles:

While the unreleased songs were never intended to be made public, they regrettably leaked into the public domain after some close friends did not hold their promise of keeping them private. We feel terrible about the leak. Thankfully, however, only very low-quality versions of the tracks made it into the public. It would be great if Longhorn could eventually provide the unreleased songs with a full high-quality official release on Apple Music or iTunes, so that people can buy and listen to the amazing tunes. After all, all of the unreleased songs are fantastic and deserve to be heard in the highest quality available.
