About Cathy Berberian

Born to Armenian parents in Massachusetts, Cathy Berberian (1925-1983) was a leading interpreter of modernistic music during the 20th century. Having studied opera at the Milan Conservatory, she used unusual vocal techniques to sing music by the likes of John Cage, Igor Stravinsky, and Luciano Berio, to whom she was married for some years.
