Anthriel

Anthriel is a progressive metal band from Finland. Anthriel can be described as a kind of neo-classical band with influences from classical metal and progressive metal. However, it is difficult to categorize Anthriel in a way that represents only one genre. Anthriel’s songs are written by Timo Niemistö. Timo usually has the basic ideas and song structures in mind and then the other band members contribute their own ideas, arrangements and opinions. That’s what Anthriel does. The band was formed in 2004 by Timo Niemistö, Antti Hakulinen and Jari Kuokkanen. Anthriel has been looking for balance since Simo Silvan, the new vocalist, joined the group in late 2008.

The band’s music is difficult to classify into one genre, and can be described as a mix of neoclassical, metal and progressive music. Timo Niemistö’s handprint is heavily visible in Anthriel’s music. The band usually has the basic song ideas and structures in mind, to which the other band members bring their own ideas, arrangements, and suggestions.
