About keshi

Houston producer and vocalist Casey Thai Luong (b. November 4, 1994) also known as keshi has beautifully progressed since first releasing music in 2013. With his dreamy mix of guitar-laced pop and lo-fi hip-hop, the singer-songwriter has cultivated a massive streaming audience.

His venture into music started when he began playing guitar at 13. His curiosity for the instrument started when he watched Drake Bell from the Nickelodeon sitcom Drake & Josh attract girls with his guitar. The first songs he wrote were heavily influenced by Ed Sheeran and John Mayer.

He began releasing music under his government nameCasey Luong to Bandcamp. But later in college, he went under the stage name keshi — a childhood nickname — in order to remain anonymous.

Shortly after the release of his debut single “over u,” his debut EP followed a month later titled if you’re not the one for me who is on October 23rd, 2016. He went onto releasing two more EPs — good days on May 10th, 2018 & THE REAPER on November 23rd, 2018,

Following his signing with Island Records, keshi released his fourth EP, skeletons on July 16th, 2019 and went on a sold-out tour for the project in September, 2019. The title track of keshi’s “skeletons” details the anxiety he felt working full-time as a registered nurse while harboring dreams of making music; a position he has since resigned from.

Keshi documented his many life changes with his fifth EP, bandaids on March 24th, 2020, then seven months later, keshi released his sixth EP, always on October 23rd, 2020; revealing the previous three releases to be a part of a trilogy, and the final being a precursor to what his debut album is going to deliver.

The long-awaited GABRIEL – released on March 25th, 2022 – displayed keshi’s wide range in production and fluidity in songwriting as a whole. From the BROCKHAMPTON inspired introduction “GET IT” to the heartfelt imagination of parenthood “GABRIEL,” keshi has proven that he finally made it to where he’s supposed to be.
