La prima vita
Sandy Marton è nato Aleksandar Marton a Zagabria, Jugoslavia, il 4 ottobre 1959. Si è trasferito a Milano negli anni ‘70.

Carriera
Alto e di bell'aspetto, nel 1982 viene notato dal talent scout Claudio Cecchetto nella discoteca Primadonna di Milano. Comprendendone le potenzialità commerciali come teen idol, Cecchetto lo mette sotto contratto e debutta l'anno successivo con lo pseudonimo di “M-Basic”, con il singolo intitolato “OK. Run”; la canzone verrà utilizzata come jingle nella pubblicità della console per videogiochi Philips Videopac.

Nel 1984, con il nome definitivo di “Sandy Marton”, Cecchetto lo lancia ufficialmente sul mercato discografico con il singolo dance in lingua inglese “People From Ibiza”, composto dallo stesso Marton. Il suo look attentamente studiato – i fluenti capelli biondi con un'onda sopra l'occhio, la tastiera elettronica sulla spalla, le giacche extra-large – lo rende immediatamente riconoscibile e Marton diventa un idolo per le giovani ragazze. Nell'anno successivo conferma la sua popolarità nelle classifiche e nelle discoteche realizzando altri due singoli di successo dello stesso genere come “Camel By Camel” ed “Exotic And Erotic”; l'attenta produzione di Cecchetto lo pone tra gli ospiti più frequenti del Festivalbar di Vittorio Salvetti, trasmesso in televisione da Canale 5, e l'anno successivo pubblica il suo primo album, “Modern Lover”, trainato dall'omonimo singolo, che raggiunge il settimo posto nelle classifiche italiane. Visto il successo del cantante, Cecchetto fonda la casa di produzione Marton Corporation e l'etichetta discografica Ibiza Records.

Nel 2005 partecipa alla terza edizione del reality show di Rai 2 “L'Isola dei Famosi”, iniziato il 21 settembre, ma si ritira il 17 ottobre per problemi di salute, anche se non ci sono stati motivi clinici che giustificano l'abbandono, venendo sostituito da Maurizio Ferrini. Nelle successive edizioni del programma sarà spesso presente in studio come opinionista.

Nell'estate del 2008, insieme ad altri cantanti degli anni ottanta come Den Harrow e Alberto Camerini, entra a far parte di un progetto di Radiostella chiamato “Hit 80 – I protagonisti”. Nello stesso periodo è stato ospite fisso del programma Estate 101, in onda su R101, condotto da Alberto Davoli. Nel 2010 è stato ospite del Festival Venezia Doc a Venezia.

Popolarità moderna
Il suo singolo del 1985 “Camel by Camel” ha conosciuto una nuova popolarità dopo il rilascio di una controversa animazione pornografica del 2021 con il personaggio di Animal Crossing Cleo. Early life

Career
Tall and handsome, in 1982 he was noticed by the talent scout Claudio Cecchetto performing at the Primadonna nightclub in Milan. Realizing his commercial potential as a teen idol, Cecchetto signed him and Marton made his debut the following year under the pseudonym M. Basic, with the single entitled “OK. Run”; It would later garner attention from being used in commercials about the Philips Videopac.

In 1984, with the definitive name Sandy Marton, Cecchetto officially launched him on the record market with the English-language dance single “People From Ibiza”, composed by Marton himself.
