Hoku was born in Honolulu, Hawaii,

the daughter of Hawaiian music icon Don Ho.

Hoku Ho grew up performing at her father’s show in Waikiki. At the age of 18 she signed a record deal with Interscope/Geffen Records and became a pop star in her own right under the single-name moniker “Hoku." Hoku found success with such hits as "Another Dumb Blonde” (from the soundtrack and film “Snow Day”), “The Burrito Song," and the Legally Blonde Movie anthem, "Perfect Day.” 

When the demands of a pre-#MeToo music industry became more than she was willing to reckon with, she walked away from her mainstream pop career and settled into quiet life outside of the limelight.  She continued songwriting and session recording as well as release music independently.
