Trout Fishing in America Keith and Ezra NW Arkansas Music For People Who Take Their Fun Seriously! Trout Fishing in America is proud to announce the release of their latest CD, "The Strangest Times". This new collection of songs is the 24th album to be released in their 40-plus years of making music. There are 11 new, original tunes and one cover (BW Stevenson's On My Own). The songs explore a wide range of feelings and musical styles that blend seamlessly into an inspired and cohesive work. The project is a return to the roots of the band. Keith Grimwood and Ezra Idlet played their first gigs as Trout Fishing in America back in 1977. The two of them grew up in Houston, TX in the 60's, where the music playing on the radio and in the clubs was potent and diverse. Country, blues, rock and roll, soul music, Tejano, and Cajun music were all easily found and enjoyed by both Grimwood and Idlet as they grew up. Listening to this spicy gumbo of music shaped the way this duo has approached their original songs, a style that expanded further on relocating to northwest Arkansas in 1992. Keith (on bass) and Ezra (on guitar) are percussive instrumentalists which gives them their unique and driving sound. While The Strangest Times is a duo album, Keith and Ezra have added new sounds to their palette. Ezra plays bouzouki on the title cut as well as on "Where Did Everybody Go?" The bouzouki is an eight-string instrument that's kind of a cross between mandolin and guitar. Keith sets the bass aside and plays fiddle on "Quiet Alleys". Writing songs and playing music has been a lifetime pursuit that shows no sign of ending for the Trout guys.
