Baccara is a renowned musical duo that emerged on the international music scene in the late 1970s. Comprising two talented vocalists, Mayte Mateos and María Mendiola, the duo achieved global fame with their disco and pop-infused music.

Mayte Mateos, born on February 7, 1951, in Logroño, Spain, and María Mendiola, born on April 4, 1952, in Madrid, Spain, first joined forces in 1977. They quickly gained recognition for their unique blend of catchy melodies and sultry vocals.

Baccara’s breakthrough came with their debut single “Yes Sir, I Can Boogie” in 1977. The song became an instant hit, reaching the number one spot on the UK Singles Chart and becoming one of the best-selling singles of all time. Their success continued with other hits like “Sorry, I’m a Lady” and “Parlez-vous français?”
