About Curawaka

Curawaka is a four-member band that performs adaptations of folk songs from various cultures, as well as their own original music. Each bandmember is from a different country:

  • Alberto Arroyo (guitar, bass) from Mexico
  • Anna Bariyani (vocals, guitar, hand drum) from Norway
  • Txai Fernando (guitar, percussion, production, engineering) from Brazil
  • Tavo Vasquez (charango, quena, sikuri) from Argentina

Curawaka’s debut album Call of the WIld (2018) additionally draws on the talents of many other musicians. It was recorded in Oslo, Norway.

Txai Fernando’s music can also be heard on Ceremonia (2018), an album he recorded with Herbert Quinteros and Pepe Danza.
