About Dominique Fils-Aimé

Dominique Fils-Aimé is a JUNO Award winning singer-songwriter from Montreal who draws inspiration from soul icons of the 40’s and 60’s such as Billie Holiday, Etta James, and Nina Simone. While her musical roots are grounded in early soul and jazz, her sound transcends contemporary urban soundscapes.

Moving on from her 2018 debut full length blues-tinged “Nameless"—which boldly confronted historical silences and sorrows—"Stay Tuned!” is both a call for and reminder of revolution expressed with the fury of red-hot jazz. Wanting to break away from the standards of traditional compositions, Dominique presents a body of work focused on liberating herself from musical forms.

Her most recent work won the 2020 JUNO Award for “Vocal Jazz Album of the Year” as well as the Félix prize for “Best Jazz Album” at the 2019 ADISQ Gala, and was shortlisted for the Polaris Music Prize and featured among the 19 best Canadian albums of 2019 by CBC. Dominique Fils-Aimé was recently nominated as Radio-Canada’s 2019-2020 “Revelation in Jazz” and has been touring Canada’s Jazz festivals.

She completed the first leg of her European tour in France before embarking on a series of shows across Europe in 2020-2021.

The final installment of her trilogy is slated for release in February 2021.
