About Tanukichan

Tanukichan a.k.a. Hannah van Loon is a solo artist that features styles of Neo-Pysch, Alternative Rock/Pop, Indie, and Shoegaze. She grew up in Oakland and was in various Bay-Area bands, most notably being in the band Trails and Ways. She left the band to start her own solo project, Tanukichan. Tanukichan’s name comes from ‘The Tanuki,’ a Japenese folklore character who’s appearance is best described as part raccoon and part dog. The Tanuki is famous in Japanese folklore for being a shapeshifting trickster with gigantic testicles.
