About Adekunle Gold

Adekunle Gold (born on January 28, 1987), is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, and graphic designer hailing in Lagos, Nigeria.

Adekunle Kosoko, as he was originally named, grew up in a music-loving family and began singing at a young age. He attended the Lagos State Polytechnic, where he studied Arts and Design, and worked as a freelance graphic designer before pursuing a career in music.

In 2014, Adekunle Gold began posting cover songs on his social media platforms, which caught the attention of YBNL Nation, a record label owned by Nigerian rapper Olamide. He was subsequently signed to the label and released his debut single, “Sade,” in 2015. The song became an instant hit and earned him widespread recognition.

His debut album, Gold, was released in 2016 and featured hit singles such as “Pick Up” and “Orente.” The album was well-received and earned him numerous awards, including the Best Alternative Song at the 2016 Headies Awards.

In 2017, he left YBNL Nation and founded his own record label, Afro Urban record, under which he released his second album, About 30, in 2018. The album featured collaborations with prominent artists such as Flavour, Dyo, and Seun Kuti.

Adekunle Gold has since released several hit singles, including “Ire,” “Promise,” and “Young Love,” and has been recognized for his unique blend of highlife and contemporary music. He has also won several awards, including the Best African Artist at the 2017 AIM Awards, and has been nominated for several others.

On February 4, 2022, he released his fourth studio album, Catch Me If You Can, an album that broke records as Adekunle Gold described the album as merely a follow-up to his third studio album, Afro Pop, Vol 1.
