About Benjamin Booker

Benjamin Booker (born Benjamin Roderick Evans; June 14, 1989 in Virginia Beach, Virginia) is an American musician, singer, songwriter and guitarist.

The rising face of Americana, New Orleans-based Benjamin Booker mixes a classic blues sound with a garage rock and punk sensibility. He cites the Gun Club, Blind Willie Johnson, and T. Rex as influences.

Growing up in Tampa, Florida Booker went to punk matinee and later studied music journalism at the University of Florida. After college he moved to New Orleans and began playing shows. He self-released a four-track EP Waiting Ones in 2012, a collection that gained the attention of music blog Aquarium Drunkard. In 2013, he signed to ATO records and began work on an album.

In 2014, Booker’s self-titled debut dropped to critical acclaim. Spin named it a “Contender for rock record of the year" and Rolling Stone called it “a fierce debut.”
