The Letter Black began in 2006; started by vocalist Sarah Anthony, guitarist Mark Anthony, bassist Matt Beal, and drummer Mat Slagle. Originally named Breaking the Silence, the band originated in a local church in Uniontown, Pennsylvania.
Their first EP, Breaking the Silence, was released in 2009, with Beal leaving the band shortly afterwards. 2010 saw the release of Hanging By A Thread and 2013’s Rebuild was released through the label Tooth and Nail.
In 2016, the band started a crowdfunding campaign to release their latest album Pain, which was released in 2017 to much success.
To this day, The Letter Black has proven to be a heavy, gripping, engaging voice in Christian rock and metal, touring countless shows per year and playing alongside rock bands like Skillet, Disciple, and Spoken.
