About Moya Brennan

Máire Ní Bhraonáin, known professionally as Moya Brennan (or sometimes Máire Brennan) was born August 4, 1952 in Dublin, Ireland. She is a singer, songwriter and harpist.

Moya got her professional start in 1970 as a founding member of the folk/Celtic band Clannad (with two of her brothers and two uncles). She has also found success as a solo artist, leading to her often being referred to as the “First Lady of Celtic Music”.

Her younger sister Eithne, who spent three years with Clannad in the late 70’s, has also found success as the artist Enya.
