Judee Sill

AKA: Judith Sill and Judith Lynne Sill

About Judee Sill

Judee Sill was an american singer-songwriter active in the 1970’s. Before becoming the first artist to be signed to Asylum records she lived a difficult life of crime, drug-use and prostitution. It was after being arrested for armed robbery and sent to reform school that she began playing church organ music. Religion and spirituality were to be consistent sources of inspiration for her music.
A consistently frustrated artist, Sill often felt her complex and painstakingly constructed songs went unappreciated. An impression she tragically died still holding. However today she is embraced as a cult favorite of many. Respected for her devotion to craft, and beloved for her rapturous and redemptive lyricism.
