Kyuss

About Kyuss

Kyuss was an essential band in the Palm Desert Scene. Their music contains elements of psychedelia, blues, heavy metal and numerous other genres. They are also known for their sludgy and repetitive riffs, a staple of the stoner rock/metal genres.

At its inception, the band was initially called Katzenjammer, German for “hangover.” They later changed their names to “Sons of Kyuss” (a reference to Dungeons and Dragons), then shortened it to simply “Kyuss.”

Perhaps the most famous member of Kyuss, Josh Homme (of Queens of the Stone Age fame) was one of the guitarists from the band’s inception until its dissolution.
