Buckcherry was formed in 1995, in Anaheim, California by Josh Todd and Keith Nelson. The band was originally named Sparrow but changed the name after receiving a cease-and-desist letter from a record label called Sparrow.
In 1999, the band released their debut album, Buckcherry. The album received praise from critics and went gold.
In 2002, the band went on a three-year hiatus coming back in 2005 with a reformed lineup.
