About Jackson Browne

Clyde Jackson Browne (born 9 October 1948) is an American singer-songwriter and musician. Born in Heidelberg, Germany, his father Clyde Jack Browne, was an American serviceman.

He moved to New York City in the 60s and became a member of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. He started his solo career and released his first album in 1972. He has been an outspoken political and social activist throughout his career, and continues to record and tour today.

Browne has said this about his musical influence:

The biggest influence? I’ve had several at different times – but the biggest for me was Bob Dylan, who was a guy that came along when I was twelve or thirteen and just changed all the rules about what it meant to write songs.
