About $tupid Young

Repping the Cambodian community of Long Beach, California, $tupid Young serves up gritty rap songs inspired by his past life on the streets. • $tupid Young hails from a family of Cambodian refugees who fled to California to escape the Khmer Rouge communist regime. • Having grown up in the streets, he joined a gang at 14 and dropped out of high school. While locked up at a youth camp, he found his passion for rap. He soon started going viral with videos shot during battle-rap competitions. • $tupid Young began releasing music in 2011 but didn’t really pop off until 2017’s “Mando,” featuring Sacramento rapper Mozzy. The track appears on $tupid’s debut mixtape, One of One. • In 2019, he teamed up with fellow California rhymer MBNel for the joint project The Yellow Tape.
