Miranda Rin, Sci-Fi Steven, and John Disco formed Bis while teenagers in Scotland circa 1994. At the time, they were somewhat of an anomaly on the U.K. scene, taking inspiration equally from the twee sensibility of bands like Huggy Bear and the joyful dance-pop bliss of New Order. After an unsigned appearance on TOP OF THE POPS, the threesome signed deals on both sides of the pond, resulting in a string of cult-hit LPs between 1997 and 2002 before their demise in 2003. Since then, the band has occasionally worked together again under monikers like Data Panik, and its members have dabbled in other artistic endeavors too.
