OBK

Profile:

Spanish Techno Pop duo from Barcelona, formed in 1991.

OBK is made up of Jordi Sánchez and Miguel Arjona, who met in the early eighties. Their passion for music and for artists like Depeche Mode, OMD and Yazoo among others pushed them to compose their own songs. Although at first the record companies were reluctant to publish their material, it was in 1990 when the firm Blanco y Negro Music finally dared to publish their first work, which was entitled "Call it Dream". From this album, songs such as "Hidden reality", "Love stories", "What makes me cry," and "The princess of my dreams" were extracted. "Call Him Dream" was a tremendous sales success for OBK, and their songs were heard on all radio stations.

OBK's next album was titled "Moments of Faith", in 1993, which included songs like "Robarle al tiempo", "Lagrimas de soledad" or "Dicen".

In 1995 they published "Trilogy" and a year later "Where the heart takes us" appears. These two albums were less well received by the public and marked a decline in OBK's career.

In 1998 the compilation album "Singles 91-98" was published, which was an important moral support to a group in low hours. The album included a previously unreleased track, "Inner Judgment", and a new mix of his old hit "What is it for me to cry?"

By the turn of the millennium, OBK publishes "Antropop" (2000), produced by Carlos Jean. Thanks to this collaboration, OBK produces more danceable and commercial songs, obtaining great success from it. The second single, "El cielo no comprendo", was chosen as the official song of the 2000 Tour of Spain.

In 2001 they released "Extrapop", a reissue of the previous album that includes remixes, demo tracks and other extras.

In 2003 the album "Babylon" appears, from which the singles "Lucifer", "Love me again", "The wound" and "Look at me well" were extracted.

A year later OBK publishes a compilation titled "Sonorama", followed by a new album, titled "Feeling".

In September 2008 OBK reappears with a new album, entitled "Ultimatum". Made up of 10 songs composed once again by Jordi Sánchez and Miguel Arjona, "Ultimatum" makes album number 11 in the career of this Catalan duo. The songs are born from OBK's need to tell experiences and feelings lived in the first person, with the intention of moving an audience that will be able to recognize in their lyrics and in their music part of their own world. They are songs that emerge from their lives and end up in the memory of many, a faithful portrait of a group that has known how to face its present and its past with the enthusiasm and passion necessary to endure over time. Listening to their lyrics and feeling their melodies is to enter the unique and personal world of a group that prints character, sincerity and sensitivity in each story told.
