My parents were lovers of all kinds of music and it was always in our home. Like many people it was a sanctuary in youth and as I got older, it became a way to make sense of the world and of myself. It's one of those pieces I distinctly remember composing and the first one written after getting my first real piano. For that reason, it acts like a musical marker for me - the beginning of the new.
