awkward i awkward i Amsterdam Backwoodsmen don't come more musically talented than awkward i, even if the birth of this talent has seen some complicated twists and turns. After holing up frustrations in Groningen, and experiencing spiritual and artistic sojourns in Pennsylvania and Michigan, Djurre de Haan – a true son of the bleak expanses of Northern Holland – bit the bullet, went to Amsterdam, and found himself getting matey with fellow Northerners Alamo Race Track. So much so, that he joined the band and decided to make a solo LP. Makes sense, no? Every artist that has roots in Groningen seems to have an edgy, underground vibe, and De Haan is no different. His music can be described as quiet, slightly intense alt-folk. Check out tracks such as "World Well Lost" and "Sea Life". But belying that homespun image, it has to be said that there is a brooding, restless intelligence that just can't be contained. His début album, "I Really Should Whisper", is choc-full of surprises, not all of them gentle. awkward i’s tracks Your Arrival by awkward i published on 2011-08-25T15:51:10Z Am I Not My Brother's Keeper by awkward i published on 2011-08-25T15:32:02Z Hannah Hung Heavy by awkward i published on 2011-08-25T15:31:32Z Let's Get Ready to Die by awkward i published on 2011-08-25T15:16:12Z Everything on Wheels by awkward i published on 2011-08-25T15:09:31Z Rockstars by awkward i published on 2011-05-25T14:22:11Z I didn`t know how to wear my hair by awkward i published on 2011-05-25T14:22:11Z
