the shamen the shamen london The Shamen, a forward-thinking fusion of electronica, acid house and psychedelia began their evolutionary life in Scotland in the mid 1980’s. and released their early albums on Moksha recordings then signed to OLI in 1989. The Shamen introduced the UK to Touring Club events with their 1988 Synergy shows, and were the first UK Band to release Singles, Albums and Live Show broadcasts on the internet in 1995. They were awarded an Ivor Novello for "Songwriters of the Year" in 1992. The Shamen released 4 LP's on Moksha recordings including the seminal In Gorbachev we trust and a total of four studio albums on OLI including the dbl platinum 'Boss Drum' and gold 'Entact'. 22 of their singles (14 of which were top 50 chart hits - most were club hits) including the controversial Number 1 hit 'Ebeneezer Goode'. After leaving OLI in '97 due to artistic and contractual differences Colin & MrC & VWJ recorded their LP '"UV", fusing breakbeat-techno and drum 'n' bass, twisted in their own inimitable way - the most metatronic musical merkaba yet to emanate from the Shamen. It was released Winter 98 on the Moksha recordings label.
