Brooklyn Funk Essentials

Brooklyn Funk Essentials take the Babylon stage on Saturday, December 12! With a career spanning more than 30 years, Brooklyn Funk Essentials have built their distinctive sound by blending funk, soul, hip-hop, jazz and disco. Emerging from New York’s vibrant club scene in the early ’90s, the band made a strong impact with their 1994 debut album Cool & Steady & Easy and became known for their electrifying live performances. The band also shares a special connection with Türkiye, having recorded their 1996 album In the BuzzBag in Istanbul with Laço Tayfa, bringing together their funk-driven sound with Turkish musical traditions and earning a Grammy nomination. Following the release of their 2026 album Black Butterfly, Brooklyn Funk Essentials return to Babylon on December 12 for a night of funk, soul and irresistible grooves.
